In 2008, Tenis Para Ninos Foundation (founded by NBA player for the Detroit Pistons, Charlie Villanueva), and a network of donation partners including Crocs CaresSM, Feed The Children, UNICEF and NBA Cares joined in the Dominican Republic to donate shoes to the kids who need them most. These children were from areas such as Puerto Plata, Carera, Santo Domingo and Santiago. The desperate need for footwear is a major issue throughout the Dominican Republic and Crocs™ shoes are perfect for this environment which averages 58.5 inches of rain a year, leaving children to walk through mud and water to and from school.
